Duluth Entertainment Convention Center

The DECC is committed to environmental stewardship in the community, hosting it's first zero waste conference in 2008 and always striving to improve through large and small efforts. Some of the ways they are providing a more sustainable conference facility include:
Recycling aluminum, glass, plastic and paper. Receptacles are located in every meeting room, lobby, hallway and restroom.
Participating in a local composting program in which nearly all biodegradable waste is composted.
Focusing on package reduction and purchasing biodegradable or recyclable products for every reasonable application.
Bailing and selling all cardboard and the vinyl material used in the Exhibit Services Department for reuse.
Participating in Minnesota’s Material Exchange and having an interdepartmental materials exchange.
Donating surplus food to the local Second Harvest Food Bank which supplies many non-profit organizations who feed the local hungry population.
Taking incremental, high impact steps to reduce energy use, reuse products and food, and recycle much of the waste produced throughout the facility.

The conference planning team is also committed to hosting an inclusive and accessible event, working with the DECC to ensure all registrant needs are met.
Land Acknowledgement
Conference attendees will gather on the past, present, and future lands of the Anishinaabe, specifically the Fond Du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. The City of Duluth is located on the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary lands of Indigenous people, lands cared for and called home by the Ojibwe people, the Dakota and Northern Cheyenne people, and other Native peoples from time immemorial. Ceded in the 1854 Treaty, this land holds both historical and present-day ancestral, spiritual, cultural, legal and personal significance for the Native nations and peoples of this region, in particular the Ojibwe.
